Understanding culture and enhancing internal communications
A leading City law firm, with a clear strategy to sustain growth, had become concerned that partners and staff were not engaged with this strategy. They appointed Gracechurch to evaluate existing internal communications and advise on how they could be enhanced and embedded into other programmes, including training and intranet development.
We conducted an initial audit of internal communications and used this to explore its effectiveness in a series of face-to-face meetings with partners and group discussions with staff. Recommendations were made to the Board on immediate changes and we also suggested a large-scale web survey of all partners and staff to enable them to participate in the redesign of the communications approach.
Our client was given valuable insight into the cultural map of the firm and how this might help or hinder internal communications. We have also worked with them to enhance their internal communications and how this can be linked with personal objective setting, appraisals and the strategy of the firm.
